About Us/Me

Thank you for considering us to be not just a huge part of your child’s life, but also part of yours. We’re looking forward to learning more about you. Here’s a little bit about us.

We are Scott and Shana, and we goof around a lot! We have a lot of laughter in our household, whether we’re chasing our Boston Terrier, Manny,  around or making an attempt at trying a new recipe (our poor smoke detectors!), we appreciate each other and enjoy small moments.

The driving force behind us wanting to adopt is that we both love spending time with our extended family. It’s not unusual for us to spend a weekend at Shana’s family’s house eating too much pasta and drinking more coffee than is healthy, then going to Scott’s family’s home in the mountains for several days. We spend a lot of time with nieces and nephews, parents and siblings, even traveling with them on occasion. Having our own child become a part of our family is what we envision for our future.

We met nearly 20 years ago at Bowling Green State University, and we’ve been together since. We’ve been through a lot together, and it has made our relationship even stronger.

By day, Scott is a middle school teacher in an inner city school district. He does everything he can to help his students succeed, grow, and have an empathetic male figure in their lives.

By night, he is a songwriter and rock musician. He writes, plays, and records music.

By day, Shana is a self-employed digital marketer. She works from home and enjoys the flexibility of her work. By night, she is a competitive pinball player. She plays in local, national, and international tournaments and leagues, and has a supportive community of pinball playing friends.

Together, we make a great team.

As parents, we are looking forward to helping our child grow and make new discoveries, and being patient and supportive of them throughout life. We plan on traveling together, often going to the mountains and a family friend’s farm. We will teach them how to be kind but set boundaries, and how to create connections and relationships. Our open and affirming church and pastor will help us teach our child love and acceptance of others. Education and reading are very important to us, but nothing is as important to us as the child knowing they are loved unconditionally, no matter what, always.

We will spend every moment possible with our child. Shana will stay at home with the child during the day and work on projects when convenient to do so, and Scott has summers off to spend with the family.

We hope we have the opportunity to speak to you to see if we’re a good fit for parenting your baby. Thank you for considering us.

About You

Thank you for considering us to raise your child and to be a part of your life. We are more grateful than you can imagine that you are willing to consider doing something so incredibly selfless. It is not something we take lightly.

We are open to any type of relationship you feel comfortable with, and we recognize that may change over time. There are times you may want only letters and photos, and we are more than happy to send those to you. But we are hoping for a very open relationship where the child can get to know you, either in person or via video chats, and where we also send you photos, videos, and messages about the child’s life. We are also open to a similar relationship with your parents and siblings or anyone else who wants to stay in touch. We imagine there are many people in your life who are supporting you through this time, and it’s important for them to get to know the child and for the child to know them too. The more love there is to go around, the better.

It’s important for you to know and understand that this child will be raised with absolute love and adoration, and it’s equally important for the child to understand they are loved by you, and to understand their family of origin. Kids become even more curious as they get older, and it’s so crucial to maintain a healthy relationship throughout those years. We hope it’s something that brings you and your family as much comfort as it brings us.

With us, your child will be incredibly loved beyond measure. They will be loved by you and your family, by the two of us, and by our extended family, including our parents, siblings, nieces, and nephews who can’t wait for this baby to become a part of our family.

We look forward to sharing all of this with you, to having a beautiful relationship with you and your family, and we hope to meet you soon.
