About Us:
We’ve been married for six years, though it would have been longer if Rick had his say. We moved into our home five years ago where we have set aside a bedroom that is just waiting to be filled. We spend as much time together as we can, even if we are doing our own thing. It is not uncommon for us to watch TV, play computer games, and complete any work that needs done, all while in the same room. We eat together, laugh together, and playfully annoy each other regularly. We are best friends. The struggles we have endured in our attempts to grow our family have made us stronger and more confident in our relationship.
Although, we found each other later in life than either of us would have liked, this gave us the chance to understand what we really wanted for our lives. We have put a lot of thoughts and dreams into what we want our future to look like with a child. We see ourselves squeezing onto a couch to watch a movie, and taking them to the museum to learn all about the world. We can’t wait for the day to build a swingset and run around the backyard together. We want to help them find their interests, talents, and to give them all of the support imaginable to be their best. Most of all we want the chance to help them to grow up to be better than ourselves.
About Rick, in Sarah's Eyes:
I am so thankful that Rick and I found each other! He is an amazing person and each day I look forward to us spending time together. His quirky sense of humor always brings a smile to my face even on the toughest days. However, I always know that he will be there to listen to me when I need a shoulder to lean on. Rick is a very loving, thoughtful, and caring person and I am so very thankful that I can call him my husband!
Rick grew up in a small town area where he and his parents lived in a country setting. Although his immediate family was small, Rick had plenty of aunts, uncles, and cousins to spend time with. Rick’s parents are wonderful people! They bend over backwards to spend time with us and are always there to help us if we show the need. I believe that his family background is what made Rick the person that he is today. I also know that it is what will make him an incredible father.
Rick works as an office administrator for a local, small company. He has been at his job for 10 years and he is very dedicated to his work. Rick’s interests and hobbies include listening to and discovering new upbeat music uncommon to the local radio, attending local minor league hockey games, building computers from parts, anything gaming, and especially learning about space and rocketry. All of these are things that he is very passionate about. In fact, his passion for things tends to spill over and I end up enjoying them also. For example, when we were dating, he loved going to our local team’s hockey games. I never thought I would enjoy them too but before I knew it I was wearing a jersey and cheering on the team right beside him. Rick’s passion for his interests is one of the things that made me fall in love with him and I can’t wait to see him help our child develop their own passion for things.
About Sarah, in Rick's Eyes:
Sarah and I met online. I remember seeing her profile; in a bridesmaid’s dress… a beautiful smile. Sarah is my better half. A genuine goofball at times. I joke that she makes me feel like I am the normal one. In reality she makes me feel comfortable to be me. She fills in the gaps, where I feel lacking. She motivates me to do some of the things that need to be done, but no one really wants to have to do.
Sarah is the middle child and has a brother and a sister. They come from a small town, rich in farming. Her mother, a teacher, and her father, a hardworking man who not only worked 3rd shift jobs, but helped run the family farm. She has a niece and three nephews who she adores and can’t spend enough time with.
Like her mother before her, Sarah has worked in special education for 16 years helping elementary age students who need extra attention in the classroom. She cares about her work and I hear just how much she wants these children to succeed in learning and in life. It pains her to see them struggle, whether in the classroom or at home. I feel that it takes a strong person, not just to teach, but to care.
Baking and decorating cakes is something that Sarah did often when we met. She also enjoys reading novels and listening to audio books while driving to and from school. Anything from Harry Potter to the Selection series, keeps her entertained. But what Sarah absolutely loves are musicals. One of the first topics that she and I chatted about before meeting was the show Wicked. Her interest became a shared interest of mine. It was the shows Wicked and Les Miserables that gave us memorable moments while dating. Depending on the show, I still get jealous when she goes without me.
